Child-Friendly Cities Research
North Waltham Forest is building new homes and during this process, the needs of children and young people can easily be assumed or overlooked. The Council wants to ensure that the needs of children and young people are considered in planning our social and physical infrastructure as well as identify the current gaps in the way our neighbourhoods and town centres function for children and young people.
For this reason, the Council is working on a GLA pilot initiative, which is a piece of action-based participative research to define and test how the Chingford Mount area can become more child-friendly.
The research and feasibility study is divided in 3 phases:
Phase 1:
Research & Participation
- Sep 21 - Dec 21
Phase 2: Case Study Projects
- Jan 22 - Mar 22
Phase 3: Final Report -Policy & Recommendations
- Apr 22 - June 22
The output of the research will be a suite of interventions including up to three child-friendly capital project proposals that are costed and ready for the Council to take forward subject to funding.
